With so much of my time taken up with running my own business of portrait photography as well as assessing other photographers work I sometimes have to remind myself to keep moving forward and striving for new goals through personal projects or new business decisions. It’s not always easy to factor this in when I’m running the day to day workload. So when a last minute call from Lisa Pritchard agency came in, inviting me to have my commercial work assessed this week, I jumped at the opportunity. There are so many avenues I would like to take my work and I know my limitations – one of my weaknesses being I do tend to jump in all guns blazing..
My commercial site is still holding a home page but I wanted to have someone go through my work to give me the advice on what art directors, agents etc will be looking for so as to be sure the work I was showcasing would attract the right people. Essentially, I would like to continue with my work as a photographer of children but on a more commercial level. With just a 20 minute meeting assigned, Lisa was hugely generous and honest with her advice – I like that. It is also useful to have my work critiqued which I haven’t done for a while and is important when I live with my work day in day out. So…things will start to move a little now in other areas over the next couple of years. Whichever direction it takes me, I do have the most incredible job and consider myself so fortunate to be doing what I love.
