Wedding highlights 2015
My role as a wedding photographer based in Dorset, but working throughout the UK, has taken me to some beautiful locations and I’ve been fortunate to work with people who allow me creative licence to work around them and with them on a day when everyone is naturally in a great mood. Technology changes, fads and trends pass but ultimately, a wedding is about the coming together of people and the emotions are the key to telling the story. It’s always been like that, and that is what makes each job individual. Even when I’ve been commissioned to photograph the weddings of the same family over the years, much of the immediate family are the same but the emotions of the day are always different and new friends introduced to the clan.
I do less wedding photography these days as my work takes me in all directions, but I’ve always maintained that the way to keep your eye fresh and sharp is to photograph a wedding and I love the diversity of timing, some time when I’m waiting for things to develop, the calmness of the ceremony to the brilliant chaos of the celebrations, the balance of making pictures under the limitations of time, weather and allowing my clients to relish every moment of the day. I’m petite in build and like to blend into the background as much as possible, there’s nothing like being a wedding photographer to teach you a cool head when everything around is moving at a fast pace.
I’m often asked about anecdotes and funny moments that have occurred at weddings and I do have a few, those I’ll keep private, but when things go not to plan (believe me, goalposts move constantly) then its the job of the wedding photographer to stay with it – I liken it to when I’m flying and a bit nervous, keeping an eye on the flight attendant and if they panic then I’ve something to worry about. At a wedding, my brides need me to have that same reassuring calmness and awareness.
So with that, I’ve put together a few images from this past year, every job I do has been a pleasure and I’d like to thank all my amazing clients for trusting me as their wedding photographer. Also a mention to venues that I have worked with this year such as The Larmer Tree Gardens, Axnoller, Deans Court, Sherborne Castle
