Kingston Maurward wedding photography
What an incredible summer for wedding photography and the good feeling of life in general. It’s so noticeable how everyone is in such a great mood – even my teenager daughters…
Balmy late nights in the garden and a celebration of all things British have made this summer a very special one. It’s a great year for weddings and wedding photography in Dorset despite how some may have been suspicious of it being 2013. I’m not sure how productive the country has been – I certainly felt the draw of the garden and a bottle of rose wine all too often.
But I have had some incredible weddings and people to photograph. One being In early August, where I was delighted to be photographing the wedding of Pete and Claire. A traditional church wedding, in the quintessential English church of Toller Pecorum with its breathtaking views before hot footing it to the incredible grounds of Kingston Maurward near Dorchester, Dorset
The incredible Georgian mansion which stands above a rolling lawn and lake, topiary and croquet lawn to the West, lends itself to photography of all genres, it’s a canvas for the imagination. There is something not too perfect about the interior which always draws me in – the large Georgian windows flood the rooms with light so it makes a perfect venue for all seasons. Not being ‘over furnished’ makes for simplistic photography, stripping portraits of being pretentious and keeping things simple.
Claire and Peter asked me to cover the evening events, which gives me time to play and to use that wonderful evening light before the evening celebrations begin. I charge a little more for this time, but I think all my clients would agree that the images taken at this time are probably the best of the day.
Thankyou to Claire and Peter for working with me on your wedding day to make your wedding photographs very special.
